General

What is vCloud Express?

vCloud Express is a cloud-based virtual server technology that makes web-scale computing easy and easily accessible to developers at an affordable rate. With vCloud Express, you can rapidly configure new virtual servers, add or delete capacity, and run applications on one of the largest, most powerful networks in the world.

How do I get started?

To begin, simply click the Order Now link on our website. From there you will be taken through the sign-up and registration process, followed by instructions for accessing your account for the first time.

What can I run on vCloud Express?

You can basically run any website, third-party software, server software or custom-developed application—just as you would with a traditional server. We have customers running everything from static websites to revenue-producing e-commerce websites to SaaS applications to mission-critical IT infrastructure like Microsoft Exchange, Citrix XenApp, and Oracle or MSFT SQL Server databases.

How many servers can I run?

You can run up to 60 servers with your vCloud Express account. If you require more than 60 servers, please contact a Terremark sales professional at 1-800-983-7060.

What is the maximum server size I can run?

A vCloud Express Server can be configured with up to eight virtual processors, 16GB of memory and seven TB of storage.

How quickly can I scale out my vCloud Express environment?

With our “Copy Server” feature you can scale out your vCloud Express environment with the click of a mouse and two-step wizard; it’s that simple. The Copy Server feature makes an identical copy of your source server so there is no need to reload your applications when you want to horizontally scale your environment.

What type of support is included?

vCloud Express customers receive full access to our online knowledge base system and unlimited support from the vCloud Express Community. Support tickets can also be submitted through the My Account section of vCloud Express.

Do I need any type of development knowledge to use vCloud Express?

No. vCloud Express does not require that you have a development background to deploy and manage your environments. Our graphical user interface (GUI) is very simple to use, with plenty of self-service wizards. If you prefer to use our API instead of our GUI, you will need some level of development capability.

Can I use my own operating system licenses, or do I have to use yours?

If you use our Blank Server deployment feature and install your own operating systems we do not restrict you from using your own licenses. However, please consult with your software vendor as some do not allow the use customer provided licenses on outsourced hosting platforms. If you choose to use one of our prebuilt deployment templates that contain subscription software, we will bill you directly for the use of our licenses.
